The AABE-NYMAC Energy Summit convenes leaders across energy, construction, manufacturing, policy, and workforce development to examine how New York is navigating the realities of a rapidly electrifying economy.
As demand for electricity rises, infrastructure evolves, and clean energy investments accelerate, this summit focuses on three interconnected challenges:
Building a clean energy workforce at scale
Reducing system-wide energy losses
Ensuring grid reliability and firm capacity for the future
This hybrid event is designed to foster informed dialogue, practical insight, and cross-sector collaboration.

Clean Energy Workforce Development for Construction and Manufacturing
New York’s clean energy transition is expected to generate over 60,000 net new jobs by 2040, fundamentally reshaping the state’s labor market. This panel explores how workforce pipelines are evolving to meet demand in construction, advanced manufacturing, and building decarbonization.
Panelists will discuss how state investments in clean electricity and energy efficiency are driving job creation while advancing equity and inclusion. Attendees will gain insight into labor market trends, partnership opportunities, and strategies for aligning organizational goals with New York’s workforce priorities.
Cut the Waste: Minimizing Energy Losses in New York’s System
More than 60% of New York’s primary energy is currently lost to inefficiencies—largely from fossil-fuel combustion in power generation and transportation. This session reframes inefficiency as a strategic opportunity.
Industry experts will examine system-level approaches to improving efficiency, including reducing transmission and distribution losses, phasing out high-loss combustion technologies, and utilizing waste heat recovery. The discussion will also highlight the role of Research, Development, and Demonstration (RD&D) in decarbonizing energy-intensive sectors and increasing overall energy productivity.
The Future of Firm Capacity and Grid Reliability
As buildings and transportation electrify, electricity demand across New York State is expected to rise significantly through 2050. At the same time, the grid must remain reliable, resilient, and safe.
This session explores how New York is preparing for this shift—leveraging existing infrastructure, expanding renewable generation, and developing new resources to meet peak demand. Panelists will address public concerns around grid reliability and discuss how firm capacity, planning, and system design will support a decarbonized energy future.
